Today was the first day of lesson... To start off the day, i came to school and saw the sec1s trying the fingerprinting machine but to no avail. It's kind of funny when u see them keep trying and got a 'Unauthorised' response. I think that happened to us when we first tried it. Haha.
Had morning assembly and the Principal gave his first devotion or rather his talk. Mr Tan started the year by scolding the sec2 and 5s. We had haircheck afterwards. No one got caught, why? Cause of our FT. Haha. Then the first lesson. Chinese. TOday we had new students, some of them i know the name, some dunno. She started off lesson 1 of the textbook and told us that we have to do 6compo by this semester. I guess we will be expecting lots of homework. Chinese lesson was funny and quite relax as last year, with some funny jokes. Lol.
It was English afterwards. Ms Chionh was my English teacher. SHe started the lesson with an abstract sentence. 'There are literates and there are literates. Which kind will you be?' I was totally lost. Ms Chionh then talked abt the typical file and journal things.
Physics was quite fun today. We started on Current. I actually dun like electricity but i will try to learn it well. Cause it seriously DUN interest me. Even if it's physics. I prefer light. Ms Lem was rather relaxed in teaching and asked us if we wan break. Chemistry was next. Mrs Teo was our teacher. She seems serious and our class was in total silence when she was talking. We will be having a class test on wednesday. Lol.
Maths was the last 3 periods. And Mr Hui gave our revision worksheets to do. Quite fun and challenging. AND today Mr Hui did something special. That is to release us on time. Something he didn't do last year.
I guessed that's the first day of lesson for me. Haha. Will work hard this year. Hope to do well in biology and surprise Mrs Choy. Haha.

11/12-12/12 was SiA camp! It was a day camp but it was fun too! I was the camp chief for the camp but i got a group of capable camp committee. Thanks a lot for your help! Before the camp started, we were worried that we might not have enough people for the games. But at 9am, when they gathered, we got just the required number. haha. For start, we started Icebreakers. Li Huan and Pei Ling were the game i/cs and they did a superb job in leading whacko and 2 other games. I think 1 is call cat and mouse while the other is animal grouping?
After that, we split them into groups of 4 for the Amazing Race. I was the game i/c for the game. We had 5 stations each with a station master and a station task. My job was to move around the 5 stations to make sure everything was going well. At the start, i briefed them about the game and they set off. I then went to Library to report the status of the camp to Ms Chionh (Our Entrepreneur Club teacher). Later i went to Bishan station first. Li Huan was sitting right in front of the escalator that you take to go to the basement. She's bored. haha. At there, we went to the NTUC to find balloon pumper since no group arived yet. Then we walked around the marketplace to explore the food there. Bought Milk Pudding for Pei Ling. She wanted it. At abt 11am, i went to Toa Payoh station to find Zhu Li. She was in the library there. Reading chinese books. I went there and slacked for 20mins. Bought lunch at the delifrance there.
Ltr, i went to Khatib, bottletree village. Walked there from MRT station. Took abt 5-10mins. While walking there, i saw another group in front. Janice's. haha. When i reached there, i realised that they are the first group. lol. I saw them did the station task. Complete 10 oscillations on the swing. Ate lunch there. After that, played billard or snooker with Pei Ling there. Bought ice-cream to eat. It was SUPER hot there. At abt 2+, we went back to school. Darren's team reached first followed by Janice's. Vincent's team was late. It started raining after i went back to school. Perfect for water games. =) Set up for water activities. haha. People got wet. I got hit by water bombs that simply dun burst. Pain! Leon hit my left shoulder once then my right. Then he said, ' oh, to even out the pain. Using pain to deal with pain.' zzz. Water game was fun to watch and laugh. Ming Quan and Janice both trying to throw water bombs at each other.
Day 2 was more of workshops and teaching the members how to play the games. We managed to finish teaching them 7 games. haha. Near the end of the day, Leon figured out how to play phase 10. It was a fun game. haha. Played phase 10 with Leon, Li Huan and Angela. We all managed to get to phase 6 to 7 only Li Huan, who was unable to go other phase. Still at phase 3. haha. After that, homed.
This few days my second uncle from KL came to visit with his family. They slept in the guest room and my room. I had to squeeze with my parents. Haix. So sian. Roomless. I wan to take things from my room also must check if they are inside. But luckily, they went out to places in Singapore to tour. So now i'm at home. Alone, blogging. haha.

Monday was a public holiday... so my whole family including my grandfather, aunt and uncle went to Compass point for a meal... We ate at Jack's Place... THe loster soup was nice... Steak was delicious when it's hot...but hard to chew when it is cold... Then the dessert was pumkin pie i think... quite nice and not too sweet... After that, we walked around compass point for a while before going home...
Tuesday i went back to school to settle some stuff till noon... Bang Lian, Tian Min, Lysander and Jia Sheng were in school also... then they waited for me and leon to go for lunch at AMK. We ate Ichiban Sushi becaused TM suggested going there... wow...surprisingly... I ate the Japanese cold noodles... First time trying it... It was not so bad... just that u have to put the sauce or else it will be plainless... The miso soup was average... typical kind that u will get in those Korean food or Japanese food in foodcourt... Spent abt $16 on the food...Broke.
After that, we walked around and went to the playground at Darren's house. TM, lysander, JS and me went. Long time nvr go Darren's house...since sec1 i think... We played crocodile at the playground...haha...Darren was always the catcher... I was catcher once... and i managed to catch Darren...=)
After that, went home at abt 530+...
Today, i'm going to watch movie with Janice, Li Hui, Christopher and Leon...haha... Watching the BOLT... They say it was 3D and quite nice... haha...

Yesterday i went to SMU with some of the coops ppl for a course on entrepreneurship... The talk was conducted by Donnie and it was quite interesting...And i think it will be helpful to SiA and coops...haha.=) I was touched by some of the speakers and the ppl in YEA...especially Ken...They started business for a good cause not for money...and i guess that's what really touched me...some of them started business for education...wow...
After the course, i have been thinking...how will my future life be like? Entrepreneur? Teacher? Missionary? I'm confused... But today, i thought through it... I guess i will take economics in the future...haha...
My future: A Maths, Physics & Economics teacher teaching at PHS...=) Maybe i will take charge of the coops or any entrepreneurial club...
Haix...Sometimes i really wonder if being a teacher is really what God wanted me to be...What if God want me to be something else?
Many people have problem deciding what they will do in the future...Some confused over their choices, some are just bleaked about their future...But i think the most important thing to do, is to leave everything to God's hand... He will guide and decide for you...

I got selected for the A*Star science research award...and i just have to go for 3 days of workshop for $1000... Nice...
Day 1 0830 I reported at Biopolis, Matrix at abt 8.10am...was quite early so i decided to wait for Gloria at the lobby...Those people who went for the program were all SUPER smart people...From RI, RGS, SCGS, Duman High, TJC, VJC and HCI...Our school only got 2 nominated for the award - me and gloria...Other school - 5-10 people... 0900 At 9am, we went to the 'Breakthrough' threatte...it was quite big and nice... I sat there and listened to the Administrative briefing by the people who received us there...They were quite funny and friendly...Haha... 0930 We then split into groups - A, B and C. I was in the same group as Gloria cause of our surname. Both Lim. We went to SIMtech in the chartered bus...which was so nice and cosy...unlike those that we take for fieldtrip in school... 1000 At SIMtech, we were split into 4 groups. I was in group 1. Gloria was in group 4. Different group had different workshop for them. Mine was on Precision Engineering and Control Theory...Sounds difficult? Well it is... 1030 We then went to tour around the Valley block of SIMtech and see the machines and the scientist at work...I saw many robots and cool gadget...And know 1 new fact...They actually use diamonds to cut and smoothen things...
1230 We had lunch, packed lunch...The lunch was ok...I was hungry...haha...The vending machine at the lounge there was SUPER cheap. 20cents for a drink. Nice... They also had a soccer table there where u can play for FREE... 1400 Started on the Control Theory workshop...The theory part was hard...and boring...Almost dozed off...Haha... 1600 Finally after 2 hours of theory, we had some hands-on fun! We were split into groups...My group had 3 people - Me, 1 from RI and 1 from RGS...Smart ppl...haha The hands-on fun was to make the most sensitive sensor that was able to have the minimum sum of absolute error...We were given a webcam to track the target, a servo- something like a circuit board, servo motor- something that translate the computer language into "servo' language and lastly a laptop for us to computate our values. The target was a red ball and we had to go through trial test to test our sensor...When the webcam detects the target, a crosshair will appear and there will be no error...when there is no crosshair, the sum of absolute error will just increase. The challenge is to get the lowest error sum as possible...the winner group will get water bottles. My group got 853 while the winner got 852...Super close. -.- 0530 At 5.30pm, we were dismissed from SIMtech. For those who dunno where is SIMtech, it's at NTU, boon lay...Then ltr i took MRT home.
Day 2 0900 I reported at Biopolis, centros at abt 0840...Gloria was there at 8.10am...so early...haha... 0930 We were then divided into 2 groups and started on the laboratory tours... I learnt a new concept...a new method of filtration - Cross flow filtration. Before we went into the lab, we were given disposable labcoats...haha...quite cool... 1030 We then went for a workshop on BTI - Biotechnology Institute Bioprocessing - Using biological materials to make drugs and protein-based substances. After that, we watched a video on biopolis... One of the systems that was invented... (DEWS- Drowning Early Warning System) DEWS was introduced at Clementi Swimming Complex to help reduce the number of people who drown. THe system can help to detect any potential drowning and alert the lifeguard to save them within the least time possible. 1200 We had buffet lunch...I wasn't feeling that well so i only ate a bit...haha...Feverish and had headache...I guess i should rest after the program... 1300 We were then divided into smaller groups among our group...5-6 people per group, and we had group discussion on the things that we learnt...haha... Quite fun to know them...they were friendly but not really that artistic though...One of them is from RI and likes playing BRIDGE! 1430 We then went to FUSIONOPOLIS - the highlight of the exposure program. FUSIONOPOLIS- A research lab and shopping centre that uses advanced engineering and technology...A super cool place... When we reached there, we had 10mins to walk around...The place was like a shopping centre with a research lab at the back of the building...
The FusionWorld tour and some of the cool inventions. We were not allowed to take photos...
The tour consists of 2 parts - Home and Medical.
At the reception area There is a registration computer that can be used to log in. The computer has a circular shape and had sensors both on the top and bottom of the computer. According to height, the computer can move up and down...If u had a special tag, the computer will be able to recognise ur name and u may sign in using ur account. All u need is to sign and u are done. The computer is touch screen with a camera that can recognise ur face...haha
HOME zone The TV of the future is like a 2 cm thick glass panel with its screen projected by a light source. To change the channel, u simply have to move ur hand from right to left...Isn't it cool?
The TV is also in-built with a subtitle translation system. U can instanteneously change the language of the subtitle with a click of the button...Cool.
The Kitchen has a Smart shelving system which can helps to identify any missing items from ur kitchen before u go for grocery shopping. In this way, ur shopping list is easily obtained.
The bathroom has an anti-slip floor which will prevent people from falling when the floor is wet...The technology will be applied to glass... Imagine when the glass is not slippery even if it is wet?
Lastly, a glass coating have been invented. The coating on the glass panel is made of titanium oxide and is transparent. WHen it is raining, the oxide will oxidise and remove all the dirt and dust that had accumulate on the surface. How cool will it be to not wipe ur windows despite a long time?
MEDICAL zone
A new invented bed had been invented. This bed is installed with 2 sensors - pressure sensor and breathing detector. When a person sleeps on the bed, the pressure felt by the sensor will cause the lights in the room to shut. The breathing detector will then count the breathing rate of the person per minute. Should the person be not breathing, an alarm will be sounded to warn the others.
Imagine how it will be if u can play games just by concentrating? By putting 3 brainwave sensor, 2 at ur forehead and 1 at ur neck, the computer is able to detect ur concentration level. A racing game has been designed whereby the cars move by the concentration level of the person. When a person concentrates on something, the concentration level will increase and the car will start moving.
What if complicated games can be played by just concentrating?
1600 After the fusionworld tour, we went back to Matrix for our group presentation. We were told to share abt the things that we learnt...haha...
1700 We then had debrief for the program and received our cheques...nice.

Something inspirational & motivational to share...from Ms Estelle Chong...
Failure does not mean i'm a failure; It does mean I have not yet succeeded. Failure does not mean I have accomplished nothing; It does mean that I have learned something. Failure does not mean I have been a fool; It does mean I had enough faith to experiment, Failure does not mean I have disgraced; It does mean I have dared to try. Failure does not mean I don't have it; It does mean I have something to do in a different way. Failure does not mean I am inferior; It does mean I am not perfect. Failure does not mean I have wasted my life; It does mean that I have an excuse to start over. Failure does not mean that I should give up; It does mean that I should try harder. Failure does not mean that I will never make it; It does mean that I need more practice. Failure does not mean that you have abandoned me; It does mean that you must have a better idea.
So to those who experienced failure...never give up and perserve in your way...As before success comes failure...
